Outrageous, OH WHAT A FEELING, when you’re dancing on the ceiling, said Lionel Richie this morning. I am shocked, but let’s be honest this is the power of a TV special (the CBS special “ACM Presents: Lionel Richie & Friends in Concert” aired on Friday the 13th). We have seen it time and time again and its called synergy (look it up). Regardless of how he got to the top, this is awesome for him and the music industry. Its another wakeup call for everyone, THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX! His Duets show starts in May on ABC, but his promo for the show starts this week, maybe that will keep him a float for a few more weeks.
Other notables, Miss Monica debuts at #4 and she’s been making some TV circuits with Brandy, while performing their very weak duet. Bonnie Raitt shows that she still has a fan-base, even with what feels like ZERO publicity surrounding her new release, she has managed to weasel into a #6 slot. Gotye has re-upped himself on the chart with his recent stunt on SNL this past Saturday and the re-re-release of his record ala Deluxe Version (which only consists of videos, in case you were wondering). Alabama Shakes finally gets a FULL release (it was only previously available digitally) and WHAM they receive their Top Ten flare. This is one to watch people…. Who the hell is Hoodie Allen?
